Education & Classroom Leadership As a former high school science and math teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal, and special education administrator, Jamar has seen firsthand how policy decisions impact students, families, and educators daily. His classroom leadership produced measurable results: 100% of his students were accepted into 4-year colleges, with 75% passing state assessments on their first attempt. As Dean of Student Support at KIPP Leadership Primary, he implemented strategies that increased IEP students' math achievement by 50% over two years, with 70% of students with IEPs meeting their academic goals.

Community Organizing & Political Leadership Jamar's organizing work has created lasting policy change. As President of ONE NOLA, he grew the organization's membership from 35 to over 100 active members and secured major victories including adding restorative justice practices to the Orleans Parish School Board's expulsion policy, removing non-unanimous jury requirements in felony cases, and eliminating state barriers preventing undocumented students from participating in high school athletics.

In 2020, Jamar ran a groundbreaking grassroots campaign for Orleans Parish School Board District 7, demonstrating the power of community-driven campaigns. His campaign raised funds from over 200 unique donors with an average contribution of $70 (compared to his opponent's 55 donors averaging $1,000), proving that authentic community engagement could compete with traditional political fundraising. Though he didn't win, his campaign centered on transparency, accountability, and putting students and families first in school board decisions.

Tech Nonprofit & Legislative Advocacy Expertise As Director of Organizing & Advocacy Partnerships at Murmuration, a tech nonprofit supporting organizing and advocacy campaigns, Jamar bridged the gap between technology and grassroots organizing. He created and led the Legislative Advocacy Fellowship for four years, supporting advocacy leaders across the country to drive statewide legislative advocacy and policy change. Under his leadership, Fellowship participants achieved significant policy wins including education finance reform, teacher certification expansion, and charter school capital funding.

Jamar developed organization-wide advocacy strategy and led a team of 5 partnership success managers working with external organizing and advocacy leaders on electoral, organizing, and advocacy campaigns with measurable outcomes. He also created data standardization systems across teams and developed toolkits for individuals to run effective organizing and advocacy campaigns, including training on platforms like Quorum and Organizer.

National Speaking & Thought Leadership Jamar has established himself as a national thought leader in education advocacy, speaking at major conferences including Charter School Growth Fund PCA Convening (2022, 2023, 2024), SXSW EDU 2023, and the Diverse Charter Schools Coalition Conference 2024. His presentations focus on linking tactical organizing actions to strategic policy direction and building powerful, community-driven advocacy campaigns.

Special Education & Systems Change Drawing on his role as a special education administrator, Jamar has deep expertise in SPED compliance, IEP team development, and creating inclusive school cultures. He has successfully managed special education programs that achieved 100% compliance on local and state audits while dramatically improving academic outcomes for students with disabilities.

Why Jamar's Experience Matters Jamar's unique combination of classroom teaching, school administration, community organizing, political campaigning, and tech nonprofit leadership gives him an unparalleled understanding of how change happens at every level - from the classroom to the statehouse. He has successfully navigated the worlds of education, politics, advocacy, and technology, making him uniquely positioned to help leaders and organizations build power, create sustainable change, and achieve their most ambitious goals.
